Very stiff to pedal so have to use wd40 on it. Our son said he was ready to try to ride without them so it worked out fine. No kickstand. The quality is great for the many wrecks that I am sure he will have (but I pray he doesn't). However, it did not come with a kickstand, as most 18 inch bikes do. I had to purchase that separately. I also like the fact that it has pedal brakes, but I kind of wish it also had handlebar brakes just to make it a bit easier to transition to his next bike.
