He was thrilled as the bike does look really cool. It has both the rear hub brake and caliper brakes so that as your child grows they can get used to pulling the brake levers. It came assembled but after one ride it was obvious that a lot of the nuts were loose and everything needs adjustment. My son complained that it was difficult to pedal and upon inspection the freewheel mechanism on the hub brake made a loud noise and the wheel did not spin freely. The manufacturer sent out replacement wheels without any hesitation but the new rear wheel still had a lot of resistance and did not spin freely. After adjusting the hub the wheels seem to be OK but we will find out in time.Check the bike out completely before purcahsing, especially if it is pre-assembled.
Date published: 2015-05-26

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Avigo - 14"" Air Strike Bike We just bought this bike two weeks ago and my son absolutely loves it! My wife, 2 kids, and 3 neighbor kids, aged 2-5, went to buy this bike. After bringing the product ticket to the front, the cashier informed her that the product is not instock, but she could purchase the floor model. She said OK. They brought it to the front, at which point my 3 year old was sitting on the bike ready to go in his helmet. They rang it up and then charged her $10 for assembly. She said she will wait for them to order it in, then pick it up. They told her they will not be stocking that item anymore, at which time she asked why are they charging her if they will not be ordering it in. Then my son was so happy that he was getting a bike, that she felt guilty if she did not get the bike. The manager stuck to the assembly fee policy. My wife wrote to the company explaining the situation, and they agreed to the fee. I called the company, and they also agreed the policy is good and we will not be refunded, or the manager will not have to apologize for the way they handled the situation. Maybe I am seeing this differently, but a company that cannot see beyond something written, does not understand customer service or have empathy for their customers. My wife and I agree that we will not be shopping at Toyrus or Babiesrus again based on this experience. Please review and consider their actions toward us and others prior to purchasing your next item.
Date published: 2012-05-25

Rated 4 out of 5 by Christina from Great size bike This is a great size bike for my three year old. I ordered one for my daughter from an online retailer and this one from Toys R Us. The first bike that we received from Toys R Us was completely broken. The pedal ball bearings would not allow the pedals to move. They instructed that I needed to drive 45 minutes south to another store to exchange it. After driving there and back, my husband start putting it together, hoping that we could still surprise both of the children simultaneously, only to learn that the front fork was bent so badly that we couldn't even force the front wheel on. I called the customer service, hoping that Toys R Us would accommodate a paying customer, to no avail. The lack of customer service was comical. We love this bike!!!
Date published: 2011-03-13

Rated 2 out of 5 by CO mom from great size, low quality The 14 inch size is PERFECT for my 4 year who has been riding without training wheels for 6 months now. We needed to move him up from the 12 inch size so he could ride faster and not be working so hard on the tiny tires. The quality of the bike is less than average. I ended up having to have the rear wheel rebuilt at a bike store so that it was ridable without clunking down the street. I was disappointed having to spend another $30 to fix what should have been fine from the factory. So for a inexpensive bike it is great and only cost a little bit more to get it workable. The 14 inch size was the big seller for us.
Date published: 2010-12-27

Rated 4 out of 5 by Drtymick from Nice bike for the price I was a little worried that this bike was going to be cheaply made considering the price. It was easily put together. These bikes are working perfectly for my twin 4yr old boys.. A very good bike to start learning without the training wheels... my boy just took off on it. Only problem is that the bikes are a little heavy for small kids, but it's built to last.
Date published: 2010-10-17

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bike seeker from Just right with room to grow We searched all over for a 14-inch bike, but found mostly 12 or 16 inch options. This bike is a perfect fit for our 3.5 year old (he's average height for his age) and looks like it will still fit great next summer. The dual hand breaks help him practice along with the traditional "pedal backward" breaks. It's good quality for the price, though the front wheel is not perfectly true which made adjusting the hand break a challenge. Other than that, pretty easy to put together and a really great looking bike - he's so proud announcing to everyone he passes "it looks like a shark!"
Date published: 2010-08-18

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cori from Perfect! I bought this for my son's 5th birthday.
