Squawk! One egg? One rubber chicken? One exploding hen house? What is this game? It's giggling fun for kids age four and up! Roll the dice and then press on the chicken's chest the number of times shown on the dice, and you'll hear a funny "SQUAWK!" If she doesn't lay an egg, then it's the next player's turn. But if the hen house opens, she'll lay an egg that you get to crack open. Did the token inside land egg side up or chick side up? Egg side up: you're out of luck this time, and it's the next player's turn. Chick side up: you get to collect a chick token. "Reset" the chicken and keep going until all six chick tokens are collected. Player who collects the most chick tokens in the winner. Squawking chicken sound effects make the game even more fun! For kids age four and up. Game includes 1 rubber chicken, 1 hen house, 1 egg, 1 dice, 1 egg token, 6 chick tokens, and 1 Rules Sheet.

Younger children will likely need some help but they still enjoy it! They all love the squawk sound the chicken makes (although it's might be a little much for parents my kids love the noise). Be careful with the brackets as they can be a bit tricky but otherwise this is a good family game to include a range of ages (which is sometimes hard for my family given the age differences). The whole family has enjoyed playing it, not just our son. It’s can be a pretty long game depending on how the egg cracks. I like that because the game has managed to keep our son’s sustained attention throughout the duration. I Attribute that due to the sillyness of the chicken. It is both auditory and tactile stimulating. The chicken can squawk rather loudly just like a real chicken laying eggs. Our son has compared it many times to our live chickens in the coop. He enjoys playing the game so much, he even tries to play it with his 9 month old brother. He plays for both of them as our baby just laughs every time the chicken squawks. It’s an excellent game that has provided our family with lots of laughs. Definitely a winner and a game that is picked often to play.
Date published: 2018-03-06

Rated 2 out of 5 by km17 from Cute idea but... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This game is adorable and the idea is fun! However, set up wasn't the easiest. The little chick tokens were a pain to push into place and the hen house is difficult to keep closed. Hard to imagine a child getting it to stay closed without help. Even myself as an adult had a hard time closing it. You have to do it just right to get it to stay closed and even then sometimes one side pops open during play. Even with those difficult issues the game was a hit with my kids, ages 9, 6, and 2. They would giggle at the sound the hen makes and were so excited when the egg popped out. If it weren't for the issues noted, I'd probably recommend this game. However, I'm not always able to sit and play games with my kids so I'd like them to be able to use it with little to no assistance which this game does not allow.
Date published: 2018-03-05

Rated 5 out of 5 by MStuyvesant from More fun then expected [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While a little tricky to put together, getting the chicken into the coup, once it was done everyone had a blast with it. The game play is simple roll the 6 sided dice with numbers 1-3, good for early counting practice application and it surprises you when it pops the egg out. The chicken squawks each time you push the head, the game is a bit similar to Pop the Pig. So if your child enjoyed that game they will love this one! The game is easy for any child to play. The concept is really good, but resetting the chicken after almost every turn got tiring, and my kids couldn't lock the chicken in place by themselves so they lost interest. The noise the chicken makes gets old quickly. If the game came with more eggs and added excitement by not knowing if you would receive the chick vs. the egg, it would make it more entertaining and wouldn't require as much resetting. The rules are simple, making it easy for children to understand. You have a chicken, you hook it up to the coop, you roll a dice, and then the number you rolled, you press the chicken that many times, and if it flips up and releases the egg, you open it up and if it's chick side up, you get to take an egg token. That's pretty much it. Although this is a fun game for kids, there are several downfalls. It is not easy to store, it is very loud and obnoxious(fun at the beginning the caw noise can be very irritating after 5 mins of play). My kids played for a long time, and they enjoy the game. I like how it's good for all ages, since there's no reading required. It was easy enough for my 8-year-old to set up by himself. Cons: The chicken is really loud. It's not so bad in the game, but when it's out of the hen house and can be squeezed at will, it drove me (and the dog) crazy. It also doesn't fit back into the box very easily once it's all assembled. Either a wider box, or a way to store the die inside the game itself, would be helpful. If a few changes were made I think my boys would love it even more.
Date published: 2018-02-26

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kteachermom from Fun Game! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had lots of fun playing this silly game when we got it. My 6 year old loved the funny squawk and the silly chicken as it spit out or laid eggs. It was really entertaining for short periods of time. Since you only had to get 4 of the 6 chicks to win it was easy for my son to figure out that the game was finished when you got close to 4 chicks. For us that happened pretty quickly. However after a break he has gone back to to several times in the last few days that we had it. In short we enjoyed this very quick and fun game. It was really easy for my 6 year old but still entertaining because it was so silly . The only thing that I found that was a con... it is kinda hard to reset the chicken and the "coop" does not like to stay in place while you are playing. It keeps falling down.
Date published: 2018-02-25

Rated 3 out of 5 by melissa1986 from My kids like it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids love this game, its contantly hillarious the way the chicken sqeals laying the egg! The roof of the chicken house doesn't stay closed. Also the chicken always hatches the egg after 5 pushes. It was fun the 1st time my 4yr old played after tbat she was bored. I would not recommend this game. I was given this item free for my honest feedback.
Date published: 2018-02-22

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kayp from Fun game [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this as a review item for my 6 year old daughter. While she loved the game and it was fun to play we did have a problem. One side of the game would not click onto place making the game a little harder to play. The age group for the game is perfect and it is very fun just louder then expected.
Date published: 2018-02-20

Rated 1 out of 5 by JessRT from Doesn’t even work! He was super excited! Now he hates it after one time of playing. It says to use the clips to lock the tail in place, then click both sides of the house shut. Well the clips don't lock properly and it makes the house bust open before we can even reset it. So frustrating! I knew the game would be loud but I didn't expect to hate it so much.
Date published: 2017-12-30

Squawk! - A Family Fun Game Reviews - page 3

y_2024, m_4, d_25, h_8

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.42

cp_2, bvpage2n

co_hasreviews, tv_5, tr_48

loc_en_CA, sid_8A17285D, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_toysrus-ca

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 8ms

reviews, product
