That said, there isn't much for a younger child (think ages 1-2) to actually do with this set, not much in the way of cause-and-effect or action play. I'd say it's better geared towards ages 3-5 when imagination and pretend play really take off. In that 3-5 age range, this toy as a stand alone piece still may not hold interest for very long. Where it really shines is a part of the larger Little People universe. If you already own the farm, parking garage, houses, etc...Then, this is a great add-on to building your community and helping kids model what they see grownups do every day. It plays songs and phrases that demonstrate politeness (parents be warned- there's no volume control; a piece of tape over the speaker will do the trick if loud toys bother you). The Manners Marketplace is colorful and cute and come with two adorable figurines to play with. There is a fast food restaurant with seating for your play pals and also a drive through window which plays different phrases. There is a bakery which is adorned with a yummy looking cupcake and comes with a three tier cake. There is also a produce market which has fruits and veggies displayed just like an actual market and rotates with the spin of a button. The produce market also plays different phrases all of which teach your child to be polite and use good manners. Overall this is an absolutely great toy and kept my child occupied for a long while. My 22 month-old son enjoys playing with other Little People Toys and this one is no exception. He liked pushing the button to hear the sounds and he also like spinning the little fruit stand to make it move and play the music. The Little People Figures fit perfectly in his hand. As for me, I enjoyed that the table and chairs were molded into the set; this means one less piece for us to misplace! I also like that this set was not overly large, so it is easy to fit on our toy shelf. I really enjoyed that this was focused on manners. As the mother of a toddler I have begun trying to stress manners and it is nice to have the little people help me with this while he is playing. We have a lot of toys that sing the alphabet, count, and say colors, but a toy that talks about manners is rare to find and I really like that aspect of it. I also like that this toy is gender neutral, so it will be a hit with my older niece when she comes to play too because she doesn&rsquo;t like playing with &ldquo;boy toys&rdquo;. I don&rsquo;t like that the umbrella is made of fabric, because I can see that getting very messy quickly and I am not sure why there is a little patch of green lettuce at a market place. But overall the product is great! She couldn't wait to get everything out of the box, which thank goodness wasn't all that strenuous. The marketplace is perfect for her to play like she's shopping all while learning manners. The songs are so catchy too, that by the next day she had already memorized the songs. There is the perfect amount of pieces so you aren't losing them and the little people are just perfect for those little hands. Little People toys have been such a wonderful way for him to really get into this. I often bring him along when I grocery shop and when I go out to lunch, so this particular playset was very comfortable and fun for him. He loves the little songs, and he loves to reply whenever there is a question asked by the set. He has been using &quot;Thank you&quot; and &quot;No thank you&quot; much more since he started playing with this. Unfortunately, the &quot;No thank you&quot; seems to be showing when I bring up things like getting ready for bed. The Little People toys are easy for him to hold onto. They are bright and really appeal to him. He enjoys the interactions and the songs. All in all, this toy is wonderful. My six yr loves this because it talks and has phases that make her feel like another person is playing with her but you can also turn off the sound so if you have more then one kid playing it doesn't interrupt their play. I love that you can add on to this and make a town and each piece focuses on a different topic. The only thing i would change is to add a low volume setting. It's a very cute feature, allowing the Little People to go up and place their order, and be rewarded with a song or phrase. All the songs are very catchy. (I even caught my nine-year-old son humming along!) I really like how this toy has different sections. There is the grocery, where you can spin and select your produce. There is the counter, where you can place your order. Plus, there is an upstairs cafe area with a fabric umbrella.
