However, the noise reduction is tiny and only works for very low frequencies. It will take out some low level traffic rumble, or the background noise of a refrigerator, but that's about it. If you're hoping to reduce the noise of a barking dog or a screaming child, or your co-workers chatter, these won't help in the slightest. The big problem is replacing the battery. It has to be done every week and there is no obvious way to do it. The headphones themselves give no indication of how to get the cover off, or even where the battery is located, and the instruction manual is simply a drawing of the the headphones with a couple of arrows. Once you pry the thing open you can tell that the right side cover had to be slid downward at exactly the right angle and then pried open from the bottom, but by that time the cover tabs are already broken and it is too late. I got these as a gift for Christmas and have used them quite a bit already. They are comfortable and I think the sound quality is very good. I didn't want a real expensive pair because I'm cheap. My husband broke the cover trying to open the battery covert he first day we bought it. We tried sliding it off and looked at the directions for assistance. There were arrows but they did not appear to show how to open it. One of the cover catches broke when my husband popped the cover. Now the cover is taped.
