Comes with detailed instructions and very easy to understand. Takes two AA batteries and once it’s charged, you are encouraged to give it attention on a regular basis. The more attention you give, the livelier it becomes. You place it on the palm of your hand and the wings begin to flutter. Also, when on the charging base/stand, the wings flutter and my cat finds this quite intriguing. It’s really a cool little toy!</span>
