This toy whistles many tunes and is user friendly. Simply rub it's back. It also has the ability to record a 20 second message and we used this feature to wish her a Happy Birthday. The bird sings and recites some phrases but also can record and repeat back what you say, which seems to be what the kids love about this. Customer service from Moose Toys was excellent when we had a defective turtle.
