I understood that Lego would be retiring the set at the end of 2021, so I sought to buy this while I still could (missed out on the Porsche...) and give it to him later. But I let him start building it a couple of months ago to see how we would handle it. As the car came together it became clear why these kits are so expensive. It's not just about the piece count; there must have been some serious R&D involved as well. The marriage process was definitely a highlight of the build, and the fact that there are indentifiable structural and functional sections that mirror a real car - insomuch as you can with Technic - shows that this was a serious undertaking for Lego's designers. As somebody who works in software design it's easy for people to see the incremental cost and think that the price of the end product is not justified, but what they're missing out is the time it took for the creators to get to that point and the inherent value that the design process contributes to the final product. Anyhow - this was an enjoyable build for my son and the two months we spent working on this (one bag per weekend day) was a great father/son experience. Has me seriously considering the Sian :) But first I have the McLaren F1 car to build, that one's for me. Although I think I'll invite the 10yo to spectate :) I will say that we did modify the build just a tiny bit. My son wanted to be able to show off the engine bay a bit more so he opted to remove 2 pins at the rear of the engine cover, allowing the whole thing to pivot up. Made a world of difference and does not detract from the shape at all when closed.
Date published: 2022-05-12

Rated 5 out of 5 by AgreeableBison054 from Bugatti (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Both are excellent sets, but I found the Bugatti illustrations in some places were confusing but not too difficult to figure out. The back was absolutely fun to build (the engine side). Over all it is a beautiful car, but I feel the final product the Lamborghini is better. The minor complain is that Bugatti's suspension is stiff. I can't to build the next Lego super-car now that I know about it. Too bad I can't purchase the orange Porsche any longer.
Date published: 2022-02-07

Rated 4 out of 5 by Wataru from Cool car! I liked this build very much! This set was not very difficult for me, but it might be hard for others. The doors and hood open up. You can shift with the shifting paddles and switch gears, including neutral and several drive gears. Additionally, this comes with car keys, and a bag for luggage that can be placed in the forward trunk compartment. The detail inside is pretty cool too! The spoiler also opens with the included car key. There is a unique code under the hood you can enter on this website to get unique content about the car. One negative is that the suspension is a disappointment because the springs can’t come back up when pushed the because of the model’s own weight :( The engine is pretty cool, though. It is a W16 and the pistons are exposed. You can also adjust the headrest for the seats which is pretty neat! I do recommend this set and give it 4 stars.
Date published: 2022-01-15

Rated 5 out of 5 by LFFGEORGE from Very satisfying An exciting and exacting construction.
