Very technical and fun build. As a professor of Information Systems/Technology I love how this typewriter captures the important influence that analog technologies had on society before the advent of digital input devices such as the keyboard. I spent years in newsrooms, and there's just something about a typewriter that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. This build was just plain cool. There were a lot of fiddly bits and the occasional feeling that I wouldn't be able to finish it. That all came to a head when one of the pieces popped off and fell into the depths of the typewriter just as I was starting the last bag. Trying to retrieve it gracefully made it fall in deeper and get stuck in the mechanical works. Argh! I finally had to take the whole thing apart, retrieve the piece (which I gave a stern talking to), and then figure out how to put it back together again. Of course, just as I was putting on the last element, I noticed 2 little round spacers lying on the table. Ah, well. Pretty sure they weren't important. 😬 This was an extremely difficult build, but it was very satisfying in the end. I've had friends tell me that can't believe it's LEGO. That says a lot.
Date published: 2024-01-22

Rated 5 out of 5 by MicroscopicBroccoli085 from Typewriter Christmas My grandson, who is 12, has been eyeing and wishing for the Lego Typewriter for a couple of years. I’ve only recently in the past year been interested in Lego and I was intimidated by the size to start with but once I opened it and started building it was suprisingly easy and really thought out extensive instructions. A super fun build there was only 1 piece that was missing which has not happened in any previous builds so was not a big deal and I contacted support and the part was sent the same day.
