I came out of my Lego dark ages just after this set retired and I had to purchase it from a reseller. The Lego sets today not only capture the nostalgia from childhood, but they also bring amazing new details, new pieces and an evolution from what sets once were. This set not only has a beautiful island configuration, but the conversion option to the Black Seas Barracuda pirate ship allowed me to finally have a set I always wanted as a kid and never got. The interior details, the interesting part usage and the SNOT techniques all lead to a very happy build and awakened my inner AFOL. I would love to see Lego rerelease this set so I could own another, or bring back the pirate theme in full. Small sets, medium sets, large sets and massive sets. I would buy them all. Let&rsquo;s not forget about the Imperial soldiers and Islanders too. The first is nostalgia - Pirates was my favorite Lego theme when I was a kid and I always wanted a pirate ship, but it was too expensive for me to purchase myself. My favorite set of the Pirates theme was the Shipwreck Hideout, and this set is largely both the ship and the hideout! the whole reason why I got this set was that it provided both. The other reasons why I love this set are that it was very easily built, displays awesomely, and is easily my favorite Lego set ever sold. The build experience was enjoyable and memorable throughout. The background put into the model and the explanation from the creator made each new addition to the model that much sweeter. The ability to make two models from one Ideas set is one I hope is repeated throughout. (Fender colour change is cool, but it's the same model). Long Review: When this set came out, the advertisement had me hooked right from the get go. The Father and daughter combo showing the old Black Seas Barracuda going through the years to the present day when Pirates of Barracuda Bay showed up was such a great trip. And that was even before I got the set. As soon as it arrived, I wasted no time reading the intricate stories of each Pirate featured, the reasoning behind their long absence, and the numerous little details of how they made due on their sandbar reef. Every step, every bag, and every piece fitting on to the model was such a joy. The memories of building Pirate Lego with my dad in the early 90s came flooding back, and it was such a great thing to have during the difficulties of the Pandemic. The small extra details included in each room made every step of the build enjoyable. From the small creatures, the makeshift dock, the kitchen, the Inn, the treasure chest. I'm sorry to see this set go out of production so soon, and wish I had taken the leap to buy a second one so that I could display both models at once. The collaboration that was required to make this set the hit that it was for me is a big reason I continuously and will always collect Lego. Great work to the creator, and to the design team for bringing this to reality. Thank you for such a great memory!
