Received this as a gift for my 8 month old daughter Today. She now has a bruise on her cheek. The purse has a thin sheet and offers no cushion/protection from the solid piece on the inside. While playing she reached for something and fell over onto the purse face first. Sharp hard edge from the purse left her screaming and wailing. My first response when I saw the purse was surprised of the lack of cushion. Well it bit me in the behind within 10 minutes of cleaning these for her to use!! Storing this toy away. We chose it because it was compact and light and had sounds and light triggered by the baby's actions. Our strategy was successful and the toy continues to entertain. The toy didn't impress me at first glance. Babies will play for a while with any bag, putting things in and taking them out. This purse is truly several steps above that. Something about the weight of the plastic top of the purse and magnetic closure makes it more fun to open and close. The sounds and adorable heart-shaped light prevented the baby from getting bored and needing another toy. The &quot;zipper&quot; didn't get as much attention then but it is now that she's older. I like that the purse has a smiling face. I wouldn't have thought to add that touch. I didn't notice it much at first but over time I have come to appreciate it. The straps and construction seem solid. Even with the sound turned off, our little girl had fun taking everything out and throwing the items out of her car seat. (That was the stage we were in.) The toys the purse comes with are only somewhat interesting. They worked well for teething at 9 months and now for pretending to make phone calls. As she gets older and understands what things are for, she will be able to pretend play with them. The little bracelet finally broke after a great deal of use and abuse. She enjoyed wearing it. I would recommend adding a toy with a dial or moving mechanism. I would have preferred that grey not be a part of the color palette. It just didn't match the pastels and wasn't to my taste. I appreciate that make up such as a fake lipstick isn't in the purse contents. Its kind of a random thought but, I would like to see added a toy notebook, book or newspaper or something that sends the message that women read/study. One reason I had kept overlooking this toy is that I had assumed purses were overly &quot;girly&quot; toys which were going to teach my baby that girls are supposed to care about make up and dress up. (I'm sure she'll end up caring about that on her own but all messaging matters, no?) When I finally revisited this item due to its entertainment to size/weight ratio, I was glad to find it didn't have fake make-up cases or lipsticks in addition to the mirror. We added some other little toys we had bought separately to keep the purse extra-interesting for the long trip. There was enough space for the additions. My baby appreciated the toy more than I thought she would.
