Yes, the top does switch out and the hub caps are in a few different shapes however, this wasn't challenging or entertaining enough for my 3 yr old. Her friend who loves Blippi, on the other hand, loved it. In my opinion, this is a great learning toy but nothing too special except the fact that it is Blippi. He is mechanically inclined and loves that he can take this apart and build it into a different truck. Tools work well and are not flimsy. It is able to switch from a monster truck to a dino truck. It allows your little one to explore shapes with the screwdriver and hubcaps. There is a little Blippi to drive the cars too!
