When I first showed my daughter this doll, she replied &quot;it looks like me, mommy&quot;. I can't begin to explain how it warms my heart to have my daughter represented. Also, my son commented on the doll's leg and I was able to use this doll as a teachable moment to explain to my children that all people are different, but just because they look different doesn't mean we should treat people differently. The doll itself is well made and my daughter absolutely loves it and it's her new &quot;best friend&quot;. My daughter liked that it had a prosthetic leg. She was able to interact with this doll with her others, and take into account in how she was different and show how she would treat them. This was a good tool to use to show this example. It shows my daughter that everyone is different, that is how the world is. I love her hair style and bracelet; however, the dress is outdated and does not look right on the Barbie. I wish the legs could bend, so it could show my daughter that the prosthetic bends in real life as well. My daughter was not that interested in playing with her the first time I gave her the Barbie; however, she eventually picked her up and started playing with her. The packaging was inviting and everything was secured well into place (I did need to use scissors before my 6 year old accidentally snipped hair). The doll herself is beautiful and the quality I expect from Barbies. My daughter has added it to her collection and hasn't put it down since I gave it to her. In these times, it is very important to show my daughter that she should be accepting and respectful of all people. It has sparked meaningful conversations with her that I'm not sure we would have normally had. Having barbie dolls that are not the typical barbie from times gone by is refreshing and uplifting to our youth.
