Hello, thank you for your question! The car seat does not come apart in anyway for each of the 3 modes of use, the car seat can be used as a rear facing 5 point harness, a forward facing 5 point harness, or a forward facing belt positioning booster. When being used as a belt positioning booster the 5 point harness will be removed from the seat per the instructions.
