Don't be Fooled: Not QualityThis doll is another in the Fashionistas line I had been looking forward to adding to my collection. That is, until I saw her in stores, and quickly realized she was nothing like her engaging pic suggested her to be. The hair is unfortunately a weak material, and not full. Sadly, she is a Tall Fashionistas, so her appeal for some will be limited.
I for one like the Fashionistas line, in theory. But the quality of these dolls is starting to wear on my nerves. This doll, when I saw here in the stores, was hardly worth her $20.00 price listing. Sure, her face mold is lovely. But the plastic used for this particular doll is obviously cheap.
The clothes are her worst feature. The pic shows flashy colourful outfits in wold prints, and seemingly quality material. In person the clothes are tacky and cheap. They really are poor quality. The beautiful yellow shirt os the most disappointing piece in the entire set. It's tacky, frayed, and dull. I was so disappointed with her.
I had wanted one of this model, more than most. But she was too cheaply made, too thinly stitched with cheap wavy hair (I knew looking at it that styling this dolls hair would be impossible). This doll would be bald in a week or two.
How unfortunate. Why make a line of dolls made in every body shape, face sculpt and hair colour, without using quality materials to satisfy buyers? Surely they can't be that expensive to mass produce, can they? The cultural diversity this doll line utilizes is also a plus. But the availability of some of the ethnic dolls is appalling.
As a Canadian consumer I have not seen the Tall Fashionista with blond hair, that's shaved on the sides. She has a Latina face sculpt. It's never been sold here. Also the Plus Size African American doll which comes with a shiny blue cocktail dress, and pink heels has never been in any Canadian stores. And the gorgeous African American Ken doll, described as Hoodie Ken, because of his ensemble is nowhere to be found either. If your gonna make a diverse line, it should be accessible to purchase. Otherwise, what's the point?
The sales of the Fashionistas will also be heavily affected when people buy a few and realize just how poorly they have been made. Whether for little girls, or collector's like myself, people want quality for their money, wither way.
