We now downsized from a crew cap pick up truck to a large SUV and problem #1 - it is incredibly bulky. it takes up a ton of space to the side - which i gladly sacrifice because it offers baby comfort, but rear facing it leaves the front passenger seat no room whatsoever. Problem #2 - it advertises to be for newborns but when we placed our 10 month old in there, her head went all over the place when she fell asleep. I can't even imagine the disaster if I placed her in it as a newborn. Problem #3 It does not recline as needed. My seat benches are slightly angled so without towels and pool noodles, which just looks absolutely trashy, it didn't recline enough for her infant stage. Problem #4 - my biggest complaint - while the polster can be taken out and washed, the straps cannot and oh my word what a disgust. I mean, we are talking about putting babies, toddlers and kids in there over a supposed car seat life period of 10 years. Even if you have the cleanest kids in the world (haha, okay), they get dirty eventually and should be able to be regularly cleaned just for the sakes of hygiene. Well, once you deal with spit up, throw up, spills and in my case an angry cat that decided to urinate in it - you can't take the straps out and clean them. They are discolored and now full of chemicals that I am highly uncomfortable having so close to my child because I don't know how well I was able to wash the cleaning agents out. The comfort is absolutely unbeatable, that is what I love about evenflo and I will give the car seat that. We go on regular road trips and we were &quot;forced&quot; to use a different brand car seat and had tears and fuss the entire ride unlike we do with our evenflos, but for the money I was really expecting it to live up to its promises. It seems now, we are going to safe up some cash to look for an alternative that we can get better use out of with the ability to properly clean and maintain. It is amazing for long roadtrips which we do often that is the only reason we still have this carseat as it is SSSO BULKY. I love that it goes for all stages BUT it's so bulky we went and purchased a more compact carseat. We have a sedan and it is hard to get the child in and out with the sides being so high. Let alone a toddler who is refusing to get in the carseat. The passenger seat in the front has to go pretty far forward for there to be good space for the legs even when not reclined (love the great recline though it's super comfy for long trips) Cup holders though are in perfect position for a child to put toys or sippy cups. Roll over tested really needs to be looked at more closely from a recent documentary it means that a child stayed in the carseat though they could have been shaken around and had severe damage the carseat still passes the roll over test because the dummy stayed in the carseat during impact(s) something to keep in mind. there is LOTS to like but it is SSOO bulky that I don't think it is for a small/sedan sized car. We were attracted to it's safety features (especially the roll over testing), but also the performance fabric and comfort features. We started to use it right before his first birthday and no matter what adjustments we made we could not get it to the angle we needed where his head would stop falling forward. We tried adding in towels etc and still no luck. She isn't even 3 yet and its literally falling apart. the zipper around the cup holders broke over a year ago and now the foam around them is braking off, along with the actual cup holders falling out. This will never last the 10 years that it states based on the durability. The seat wasn't cheap either.
