DOES NOT HAVE CARRYING CASEAt the time of writing this, the description specifically says it has a carrying case. It does NOT. At the very least, don't throw the box out because you'll need something to store everything in when the kids aren't using it. I always try and teach my nieces to take care of their belongings and really wish it had the protective storage case.

Rather flimsy, just okI feel this was a little pricey for the quality of the product. Many of the experiments take days to do and this will not hold my son's attention for long. The lens with the highest magnification doesn't seem to work at all. He was impressed by what he saw but then again, he's never seen an object or specimen in a real microscope. I wouldn't bother spending the extra money for the projector. If you can't get the specimen focused well when looking through the eyepiece, then looking at it with the projector is worthless.

My son is 7 and has Autism, loves scienceI got this Microscope for my son, I didn't know if he was going to be able to know how to use it. He was able to use the microscope on his own, and is so in love with it he already used up all the slides and only had it since Christmas Day. I would definitely purchase this again, definitely recommend it.

Great learning for an eight year oldWe bought this for my eight year old nephew for Christmas. He loves Legos and Nerf guns, but we wanted to get him a gift to inspire learning. He is very interested in facts, is always asking why, wants to know "how things work" and had expressed that he likes science. He loved this gift and took it out of the box to play with it on Christmas eve right away. Grandpa, Grandma, Auntie, Uncle, and parents all took turns helping him find things around the house and kitchen to look at up close. He was excited to think of all of the things he could use to experiment. I recommend some adult guidance and supervision initially, especially for very curious kids! He mixed the red dye in the kit by himself in his room, which resulted in the need for a new paint job-he doesn't get to use that any longer :).

Excellent First Microscope. The projector on the microscope is a easier way for young minds to get started in the world of microscopy. The screen allows for Mom and Dad to participate in the viewing experience. The experiments can be done as a individually or with the parents as great family project. I would include links to web sites so the child can explore in greater detail what they are viewing.

Missing itemsI was so excited about receiving this item, but when I opened it to check everything before wrapping it, I realized that 2 vial samples are missing and only 1 of the 3 vials had an actual sample. I called for a resend and got the worst container service I have had in a while. I'm now waiting for a resend, but so far, such a horrible experience.

A great birthday gift for an inquiring mind!Nine year old grandson, Brice, had a few minutes of difficulty in figuring out the operation of the microscope at first. When he got it adjusted to where he could see the shapes and colors on the slides there was a squeal of excitement and from that moment on we couldn't get the next thing to observe fast enough. He LOVED it!

Not Worth The MoneyI bought this for my daughter for Christmas because she is very interested in science and experiments. The quality is very poor, but she loves it because she has never used a real microscope before. The slides are blurry and it seems they all look the same. I also cannot get the view on the front side to work.
