Keep your curious cruiser inside child-friendly areas with the Safety 1st Top of Stairs Metal Gate. This bronze metal baby gate complements your home while keeping baby safely inside, or out of, certain areas. As a hardware-mounted gate, this gate is ideal for use at top of stairs, but can also be used at the bottom of stairs and between rooms for maximum versatility. The frameless design ensures that the walkway is completely clear when the gate is open and there is nothing to step over, preventing any potential trip hazards. This gate is specially designed to be operated with one-hand, because we know parents often have their hands full. Easily open the gate by rotating the release lever and lift to swing out of the way. The sturdy hinges allow the gate to be set to swing open in one direction only for top of stairs use, or in both directions which is perfect for between rooms. This ability to choose provides you with added convenience and protection. The adjustable gate stop ensures that the gate can swing only one way for safer top of stairs use. Additionally, the one button release on the hinges makes it easy for you to remove the gate during periods of non-use.
Safety 1st Top of Stairs Metal Gate features:
Metal Gate with adjustable Width 27" to 42, Height: 28"
For use in multiple areas of the home: Top of stairs (hardware mount only), bottom of stairs, & hallways or doorways in a frameless design to prevent any potential trip hazards

grumpy old man from
reasonable design but incorrect templatebought it 2 months ago, too busy, just install it today to find that the installation template is totally unacceptable.
1) the drill guide use only the dimentsions of the hinge brackets, so the holes are incorrect for the latch brackets( which should be wider apart.
2) the distance between the hinge brackets is incorrect, making the gate cannot sit on both brackets, the same for the latch templates
hinge mechanism is not smooth , would be better if the angle piece can be lock at the right position( please provide 2 more nuts as in the latch side!) need both hands to open the gate

Sturdy, but difficult to installJust bought this and spent an hour putting it up, then 5 minutes taking it down and putting it back in the box. First of all, make sure you read the instructions. We did and it made it easier - thanks to the pictures. Unfortunately though the template did not give accurate hinge/lock locations so we had to hold them in place and mark new holes. Several holes later we had it working but found the lock part of the gate is very flimsy, and the gate is not that easy to use if you have a baby in your arms. My wife said it had to go so I took it off and put it back in the box. One other thing worth noting is the 'handle' is actually a screw/bolt thread which isn't overly attractive. How much screw is out depends on how far you screw it in. I used a pipe wrench to get it in and even then had some difficulty as it was very tight. Ours sat out about 4cm. It is also quite noisy, and 2.5 inches shorter than others - if you're using it to keep pets out. Perhaps best used in a location where it will not have frequent opening and closing. Bought on sale - sale price would be reasonable, full price is a bit much for what it is when I compare it to the other gate we have.

It's OKayGot it on sale, so it was more worth it that the quality would justify. Took 2 hours to install, plus another 1/2 hour to correct the backet holes since the template is wrong. The screws are a bit overkill on the length and took alot of strength to screw in. It's noisy when opening/closing and it needs to click lock with great force. Not for 1 handed operation.

Good value, template sucksSolid material for the gate, screws are phillips and will strip. Do not use template to drill holes, need to measure instead.
