It was four sets of 30+ pieces and were of a race car, glider, boat and helicopter. Fast forward to now, I win this set at a company raffle and was hooked after that. I took 4 hours of uninterrupted building. Mentally, I did get a little frustrated during the built. After each completed task, I felt I’m never going to finish, even with this 598 piece set. I wanted to be easy and finish fast. I didn’t enjoy at first as I hoped I would. So I forced myself to break it down brick by brick and start over. I needed to take time building and enjoy it. I need to work on my patience as well. Mind you, this review is not a dig towards Lego, this was personal things I needed to work on. In order to test my patience for the rebuild, I purchased a lighting kit for this set to make it mow challenging. The rebuild took over the course of 5 days each, one to two hours each day. And voila! I found the enjoyment of building my first Lego set a second time. Bravo to Lego and it’s Architecture series. I’m an engineer by trade and really come to appreciate the little details of each brick, component, and building of this set, and many sets that followed. The spare bricks and little statue were a plus. Looking forward to building other Lego sets!
Date published: 2023-02-25

Rated 5 out of 5 by JeffMan45 from New York City model I received the model of New York City for Christmas it’s fun to put the build the buildings
Date published: 2023-02-20

Rated 4 out of 5 by Keeks-88 from Small but Mighty! I loved building this set round my sisters today, she's a massive Lego fan and I'm a huge fan of NYC & decided to do a travel wall in my bedroom of places visited & this was the first set I have ordered to begin my Lego building journey as an adult. I was expecting the pieces bags to come numbered so it did confuse me at first when building the base that I needed to open all the bags but once sorted I loved how majority of all the pieces came together so neatly and perfectly, it has beautiful lines. It's small but mighty and oozes class. My only issue I have is that the one world tarde centre is not as sturdy and doesn't go into place as nicely as the other buildings, but looking at it you wouldn't know until you touch it. As to the feel its kinda loose, i was thinking i hadn't built it right to begin with but after re-building it, it turned out the exact same so its just the way that particular building in the set is once built but seeming as this is for decoration only its not a big deal. I would still recommend the set for any NYC fan. I have already ordered the London and Paris in the same line and a couple of the postcard sets. I hope Lego do more and expand their architecture skyline range, I have a wall to fill of my travels. *Please, please, pleaseee bring out an Amsterdam one!
Date published: 2023-01-05

Rated 5 out of 5 by ElGigiante911 from The Not So Big Apple This was my first architecture set and I didn’t think I would enjoy it that much because of the low piece count. I’ve built and enjoyed the Lego architecture collection including the Paris and London sets. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this New York City one though. I was missing crucial parts that had to be ordered separately (thank you to Lego for being so quick and accommodating to send the missing pieces!) Then, when I continued to build, I was not able to complete the freedom tower because the pieces did not fit together according to the instructions. I tried everything I could think of including trying to see if I could use other pieces in different ways with no luck. I have lived in NYC most of my life, so needless to say that I was a bit disappointed with the lack of attention to detail on the placement of the buildings. If you are going to put the statue of liberty surrounded by water then the next building should be one world trade, followed by the flat iron building, then Empire state building, then Chrysler building. It’s not too expensive, and although it’s pretty simple to build it looks great next to some other NYC stuff, whether it be canvas prints or the Empire State Building set from 2019. Either way this model features some of the most iconic skyscrapers in the country, possibly the world. The Statue of Liberty works well in the scale of the set, and doesn’t draw attention from the main buildings which is nice. The Empire State Building is roughly the same size as the standalone set from the beginning of the Architecture line, yet has the same look to it as the larger set from 2019. The Chrysler Building is another one that’s hard to capture the look of given its scale, but LEGO did their best and it fits in well with the model. Taking a break from the Supertall skyscrapers from Midtown, the Flatiron Building does a good job representing the real thing (which I’ve never seen without scaffolding covering it) given its scale. Finally, my personal favorite building in the model and the city, One World Trade Center is another where the scale LEGO built this in makes it so difficult to accurately represent, and I applaud LEGO for their efforts. I rated this as a 1 out of 5 in terms of play value because it’s literally not for play.
Date published: 2021-11-22

Rated 5 out of 5 by TrustyCat042 from Amazing! As somebody from the uk who dreams of going to New York I love this! There were many interesting assembly twists. A plus that various buildings attach to the base in different ways. I am most pleased with the feel and appearance of the Empire State Building; it was fun to build. I would also rate the Flatiron as a success, though much simpler. What detracted from the set: The Statue of Liberty is actually in New Jersey, so having it as part of NY City is not a good choice. WTC 1 in the set is as unappealing as the actual building; I would assume any tourists who go here are there for a different reason than to see this monstrosity. The parts bags could have been packed with more thought- maybe sorted by building, to avoid having all the little blocks open at once. Recommended as a component of a collection, ZERO play potential.
Date published: 2021-09-19

Rated 5 out of 5 by Legaldoc from Enjoy it for what it is Having recently built the Empire State Lego, the same building in this set is a comedown from that exquisit and beautiful set. If you are willing to buy more than one, keep in mind San Fran and Dubai will retired before NYC.
Date published: 2021-06-25

Rated 5 out of 5 by FlamePhoenix from Cool set Super cool. I had fun putting together this set and it was relatively easy once you can actually see the manual (this wasn't as difficult as some other sets since there aren't as many black pieces as other architecture sets). My only wish was that there would be a "mini" building detail as some of the other sets, such as Shibuya Crossing of Tokyo or Freemont street of Las Vegas. A tiny Times Square would have made this set absolutely perfect and fun and not as strictly structural as just the buildings and a tiny Statue of Liberty make it.
Date published: 2021-03-22

Rated 1 out of 5 by Edwardloveslego from Bad really really bad I bought this a while back and it was very cool and fun to build but there is no way to play with it and I know that's not what its meant for but its dumb it just sits there and the building are just out of place!
Date published: 2021-03-16

Rated 3 out of 5 by DollyAmanda from Could be better I bought this after completing the San Francisco set and didn’t get the same level of enjoyment from it. Whilst this set is still nice, I found the other set much more fun to build. This is more of a Lego scale model of popular New York buildings. There are so many landmarks in New York that could be represented - Brooklyn Bridge, Plaza Hotel, Central Park, Brownstones, The Met, Guggenheim, Time Square, Public Library, Carnegie Hall, Staten Island Ferry...this set could honestly be amazing, instead it’s alright...
Date published: 2021-03-06

Rated 4 out of 5 by Youngcrazyfennet from Sympa mais... ... en comparaison du Paris et Tokyo ( que j'ai fait) celui ci est un peu trop simpliste.
