Sadly disappointingThis was a Christmas gift for my son last year. It took us (very smart 8yr old son, plus my patient self and my very handy husband) very many hours of frustration to put together. When it was finally completed as per the instructions, we turned the crank and the claws did not grab the marbles each time, or if they did, marbles would escape the track and end up rolling all over the floor, or the little wheel that holds the axle on kept slipping off. We made our own modifications to fix the problems as best we could, but once it was all in place, and we finally got it to work (sometimes), my son immediately lost interest and never touched it again. The novelty runs out really quickly; it's basically an interesting, and rather expensive, object that just sits on his shelf.
