There aren&rsquo;t too many pieces. A screwdriver was the only tool required. Follow the directions. Our grandkids are 18 months and 4 years. Both love it. The umbrella needs to have a Velcro strap to secure it when not in use. Also once the umbrella clamp is screwed in place from underneath, it is difficult to remove the umbrella. I guess that&rsquo;s safer for the kids. So decide if you really want the umbrella before you attach it. This helps to prevent critters from getting in, or standing water attracting mosquitos at night. My daughter played with it for an hour (a feat at 15 months) and cried when she had to come inside the first day I introduced it. Well worth the money. The umbrella for shade is an added bonus. It is basic but comes with two little ramps in the &ldquo;moat-like&rdquo; water side, a cup with holes, a two sided digging tool, and two little boats. To jazz it up I was able to purchase a water wheel, foam letters and numbers, a variety of rubber animals/sea creatures, and wind up plastic swimming turtles etc. which can be added in turns to give the table more variety if needed, at a fairly inexpensive added cost. The proper cover and umbrella shade and option to use as both as a sand and water table made this option the best one of all the other water tables I researched.
