Nice bike but...stiff gear shifter.Bought this bike for our 8 year old son. The bike looks great, has a cool suspension system (actually works) but the major problem with the bike is that my son is unable to downshift the gears. The shifter is too stiff. He is able to up shift (1-2-3...) but unable to down shift (7-6-5...). Every time he needs to return it towards first gear, he needs to stop, grab the grip shifter with two hands in order to shift it up one gear.

This bike seems to offer a lot for the moneyI bought this bike a week ago for my 8 year old son and he loves it. It doesn't take a lot for a bike to impress a kid... it just has to work well. The overall look is also a hit, as it looks like an expensive bike. It takes a bit more to impress me, which this bike does for a few reasons. 1. It's a good combination of having the right features while remaining simple. Eg. a single rear derailleur for shifting gears and a fixed gear at the front, which is perfect for a kid's mountain bike. 2. Rear disc brake. Kids drop their bikes on the ground and the wheels become slightly warped, which makes rim brakes less effective. The disc brake shouldn't have this problem and if the disc is damaged it's cheap and easy to replace. 3. The bright colour should make the bike easily visible in the evening. What don't I like? The gear shift knob can be a bit hard to rotate and the kick stand isn't very stable.
