I found the swing to be sturdy and well built, especially from a safety standpoint. I read the reviews and instructions (online) before installing. I was surprised by the negative reviews, most of which complained about the lack of installation instructions. The manufacturer cannot include the necessary hardware for installation due to the simple fact that they cannot anticipate the wide variety of options to hang the swing. If I were to hang it at my home, I would use one of my existing trees as I don't have an option to suspend from a porch or deck. Where I am installing it, rafters under the deck allow for screw-in eye bolts. At a former house, I could have used eye-bolts but with a screw-on bolt affixed to a metal support beam. In each case, a bendable S-hook attaches the rope swing to the eye-hook. Any decent hardware store can recommend the weight load for the hardware so you have sufficient strength for the swing and child. Anyone who can't figure this out realistically should be having someone else install the swing. They loved them and only Grandpoppa will push them for hours. This is special time together for us. When their friends visit they always want to swing because they don't have a swing at their houses. Grandchildren are good at sharing and they wear me out swinging them. They say &quot;you have such a good Grandpoppa to buy you this swing and push us too.&quot; One set of parents leaves their swing out all year long and the other brings theirs in for the Winter and cleans it. Both swings have faired well in both situations and no doubt will be passed along to other friends when outgrown. Excellent product in all respects that has given both me and all my grandchildren many hours of joy and togetherness that has lots of value and has built lots of memories.
