LEGO City - Flexible Tracks (7499) is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very unhappy with this. Don't get me wrong, LEGO Trains is my favorite line of toys here. But, once normal curved tracks were no longer available to buy separate, I figured that this would be the same thing. NOPE. The first thing I noticed is that the flex-track only makes 1/4th of a circle, which I kind of expected, as a lot of the reviews here had pointed it out. The second thing is that trains derail easily along the flexitrack. I don't even have a powered train, I just run them using my hands, and they still derail. I am befuddled with how shoddy this set is. I would recommend LEGO to go back to the old tracks, as soon as possible. 1/10 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Straight track good, Flexible track bad Title says it all. I have bought a great deal of LEGO track in my day. I was skeptical about the switch to RC track, but I have truly learned to love it. The non-conductive rails offer many more layout possibilities than its predecessor. That being said, I was very optimistic about the Flexible track when it came out, but I still dislike it. It does not work well at all. It does exactly as its name implies, it flexes, moves and derails trains. No big deal, except I can no longer purchase curved RC tracks separately. Worse yet, I cannot purchase straight tracks by themselves. LEGO, can you please make straight and curved tracks available separetely again? Pretty please?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 9v come back!!! Pros:none Cons:everything "Flexible track" is so bumpy, wierd looking, and STINKS! dont get this set! Lego now thinks flexible track is some "replacement" for curves! My trains can hardly go around it! Now this is a good sugestion: discontinue this set and sell 8 straights in a set, 8 curves in a set, sell a left switch with a curve and sell a right switch with a curve in a different set,but keep the set that comes with only flexible track because sometimes you need one piece as a "placeholder" or to fill in that pesky gap in the tracks but otherwise is useless. I WOULD NEVER RECOMEND THIS TO A FRIEND!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a flexible track fan I have purchased several of these to gain more straight tracks. I already have mountains of curved tracks from the 9v sets of old. I always wished trains sets would come with more straight rails. Now it seems LEGO often do not include tracks at all in many train sets. I do have to agree with many of the other reviews in that the flexible tracks are not very pleasing to the eye. They stick out as very awkward can distract from your LEGO train layout. I have found a good use for them to be track for my stationary trains. They stay hidden that way and still serve a good purpose. I would prefer LEGO to simply make the traditional straight and curved rails.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sell tracks separately First I would like to urge Lego to start selling the different track types (straight, curved, etc.) separately. The same goes for the Road plates. Secondly the flexible track 'experiment' has been a big failure, the trains are unstable when going over the flexible tracks + they do not look realistic. Please bring back the curved tracks and I would also welcome some special tracks like intersections, cross tracks (with individual switches), etc. Making brilliant trains (like Emerald Night, Maersk) is useless if you do not sell the proper train tracks, please come up with more variety in the train track arena.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from More of the same review I have the same problems as everyone else. I just expanded my own little lego city onto another table, thrilled that now I would have space to finally use the Emerald Night train I purchased years ago. To cover the space that I need requires quite a few straight tracks which are only sold with the flexi tracks which I do not need any of and don't even like. I would much prefer the original rigid curved track which seems to be much more popular. PLEASE sell these tracks individually, why do these things have to be a packaged deal? Just like the road plates which come with a four way intersection which I'm going to use maybe once or twice?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bring back curved track & sell them separately I'm okay with the option to purchase flexi track but please sell regular curved track as well. Lego, please don't make train track purchases such a challenge. The flexi track is ugly and moves around when the train traverses it. Don't cut us off completely from rigid straight track. Why not sell boxes of straight, curved and flexi in separate sets? That would make customers very happy from what I'm reading in these reviews. I just don't get it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from flexi use I have many pieces of flexible track and find them very useful with my larger track designs. They allow your normal straights and curves to bend to exactly what shape you want. It is VERY important to only use 1 or 2 flexi tracks joined together so that your engines dont lose traction. I normally use 1 flexi part to 2 pieces of track and find I do not have any loss of traction. I agree that track pieces should be included in Pick-a-brick and you shoule be able to order 1 piece at a time.
