My only negative is that it is difficult to replace the diaphragm, and reading the other reviews it seems the o-ring would also be hard to replace. In my case, the diaphragm DID NOT break due to wear, rather fell prey to a curious kitten who was not where he was supposed to be lol. Would have been costly to order the part from the states as I could not find it in Canada at all. I ended up buying a used pump to replace it, which I wouldn't have done except the diaphragm does not come in any contact with the milk. So yeah, love the pump, but Medela could you please make ALL the parts accessible to us here in Canada? As a first time mom, I struggled for hours with this product and it was very frustrating. After being taught how to use an electric breast pump and gaining some experience with that, it became easier to use the manual breast pump because I understood the effect I was trying to achieve. The manual breast pump is very expensive and requires so much work to produce only a fraction of the effect of an electric pump. After approximately three months of use the pump had no suction. I looked at it and found that the o-ring on the pump showed signs of ware. Once this piece goes the pump is no longer functional. We called Medela Canada customer service hoping to get help and instead of Medela taking some accountability for their product's issue, we were blamed for wear and tear. Really? Only after 3 months of use! To get it replaced we need to buy an entire diagram. Lousy customer service! How about including the o-ring with the membranes Medela? Maybe their electric pumps are better, but this pump is completely useless without that o-ring and Medela doesn't supply them separately. This pump met my expectations. I can pump up to 4oz in 10-15 minutes. My hand gets a little tired by the end but that's to be expected with a manual pump. For this reason I wouldn't recommend this to moms looking to mainly pump but to moms who just need a break once in awhile. This did the job well. It is definitely great for the occassional pumping and really good for travel. The top rubber (attatched to the handle) can leak... frequently... leaving you with even LESS suction than it already has. I bought a different pump in a pinch when I left my flanges at home and had to run to a store on my lunch break, it was a cheapie (25 dollar) lanisoh manual pump. The lanisoh outperformed this pump BY A LONG SHOT, was easier to clean, and I've used it as a work pump (opposed to my electric) for over a month. Overall, personally, after trying 3 different medela pumps (hospital grade, portable, manual) I think it's a lot of buff based on label. I've used lanisoh, mipump, and a few other cheaper options, they are better, more comfortable, better suction.
