Great purchase! This gift was a total hit with my two kids (4 1/2 & 2). They can both easily control this train, stop it, reverse, etc, etc. It works great on the wooden tracks. To be honest, my two year old prefers to play/move the wood train himself, but my daughter is loving the remote control train. She even runs it on the wood floor or the carpet. I like that the cars hook together well. My only negative is that the piece that joins the train cars is a bit long. If you don't have all the cars connected and just want to one the engine, or one or two other cars, that connector can get caught on things. Great purchase! So glad we saw this and grabbed it for Christmas!

Amazing! This little train is so amazing. I wish I would have found it years ago. If I would have found this train earlier I would have never have spent money on the Tomas trains. My 4 yr old son can play with this train totally independent vs the Tomas tracks that we had to put together for him. The wood track are much much easier for little guys to build. This train runs prefect and even will climb small hills. It goes forward and backwards. It also has a cute train whistle that the conductor can blow himself. The remote is simple and easy to run. The cars also connect in a solid way so the train is not alway disconnecting. Thanks imaginex my son loves this toy!

Almost greatI wanted this train for my son who is special needs and can't use his hands or arms very well. I can connect this train with his talker because of the infrared signal and he can control it with a switch rather than the remote control that comes with it. It works well except that the train is too big and does not fit on the Imaginarium tracks. Most of the tunnels are not tall enough and the train gets stuck and the train is too wide for some of the bridges. I had to try several tracks to find one that would work. I finally ended up cutting the front of the train with a razor blade so it wouldn't keep getting stuck on the spiral track that we ended up buying.... It works now.

Great toy for little learnersMy almost 2 y. Really enjoyed this train, the control is easy to learn to use. It goes in forward & reverse, has a stop button & a train horn button. The train cars snap together with a ball & hitch system and stay together. It doesn't connect to magnet based train cars. The only drawback is, although it fits on the imaginarium train track system, it is larger than the other trains and does not make turns well and usually is too tall to go through tunnels, it also only makes it up a 2-3" hill, it doesn't have enough traction/power for steeper inclines. I also wish there was a volume control feature, its a little on the loud side. Overall, great toy for little train enthusiasts.

DisappointedMy son got this for his bday to go with the train set table that I bought him only to find out that the green and yellow trains do not fit through the bridge and blue, yellow and gree don't fit under. Since this is the only remote control train for this table (set) i now have to go buy more train tracks so I can take the bridge out and rebuild it so he can actually use it. This might fit with the $200 train table but I got the size down from that one and I was very disappointed.

Not what I expectedThe train is made of lightweight plastic. I was expecting a wooden train like all of the other Imaginarium trains we own. The engine is too wide to fit through the train bridge on our Imaginarium track set and it barely has enough power to go up slopes. I was also expecting it to be compatible with the wooden Imaginarium trains, but they do not connect together because this train does not use magnets to connect. Instead, the cars are connected by small plastic connector pieces. I would not recommend this for use on a track with many turns or slopes, or as an add-on to other Imaginarium wooden train sets.

Good idea, bad designWe have the imaginarium train table so we thought this would be a great toy for my son. Two of the cars are too tall to go under the small black bridge so I took them off, no big deal. Then the engine got stuck crossing both bridges because it's too wide. So now I have to either modify my table (cut sides off bridges?) or really disappoint my son and take it back to the store. He was so excited about having the remote and as far as I know the Thomas ones do not comes with a remote and only go forwards.

Where is the Brio?!We recently took our toddler to toys r us for a shopping spree for him on a special holiday. we hadn't been to toys r us for awhile, but the last time we were there, we were able to purchase items to complete his Brio train set. Our son was SO excited to buy more train things, that I hadn't the heart to stop him when we arrived at the store and saw that the Brio line was not stocked. We bought him an Imaginarium train which is no where near as nice as the Brio line. It's plastic, does not have magnetic connections, and does not fit with his Brio set. Please bring back the Brio!
