A good stuff with a little flawMy two-year old daughter likes it very much and plays hour and hour. I am satisfied with the engineer except there is a nick on it.

Gordon - Fastest and Best?I purchased this product in 2015 some months ago as an addition to my wooden railway collection. I had wanted Gordon in my collection as I had sadly never owned one when I was younger - with the newest versions available in stores I decided to take the plunge and add this classic character into my collection, purchasing from new and being able to enjoy Gordon for the first time. At first glance, the model appears to be well-done like any other Thomas Wooden Railway product; the colors are correct and the shape is very much that of Gordon, being correct with the unique smokebox moulded in plastic for Gordon and firebox near the cab angled like Gordon. The detail on the sides and tender are relatively plainer than on newer engines like Ryan or Salty, but it is still appealing in a sense and definitely looks very like Gordon. For younger children playing, and for this particular brand, looks are everything. However, the face is where things start to fall down - the face does not look as well-done as on other wooden models that have been released. At first glance the face appears to be similar to Henry, and though the two do have similar facial structures there is a clear and distinct difference between them on television - one that should have been replicated here. It's not a bad representation of Gordon's face, but considering that other engines like Thomas (designed at the same time as Gordon) have far better-looking faces, this is a disappointment in this regard. Another disappointment was the overall quality of the build - while not terrible by any means, the quality of Gordon seemed noticeably lower than on other Wooden Railway models seen before. In particular, the paintwork does not have the deeply glossy finish that Thomas Wooden Railway items typically tend to have, feeling like more of a matte finish. My Gordon also had a few very tiny chips in the paintwork when I took it out of the box to examine it - not done by myself, and something to look out for. Slightly wavy lining on the boiler and a slightly poorer assembly between the boiler and cab area only add to this slight disappointment - though it's by no means a terribly-built product there does seem to be a dip in quality with this one, and for the price being asked for this is a disappointment. Ultimately I had mixed feelings about this product when I had finished looking at it and adding it to my collection. Though it is not a bad product in some ways it does have a lower quality feel to it than previous Wooden Railway products, and though it is not dangerous for children at all it is a bit disappointing. I am glad I own Gordon and do recommend him for purchase, but am disappointed that such a prestigious character like Gordon was plagued with such minor and easily-resolved quality issues that should simply not have happened at all.
