That being said, they are very stiff to open/close, the hardware is all plastic so not very durable and we have had to replace the hinges a number of times. If you don't mind a cheaper gate that has some quirks then these will work for you. The price isn't bad , especially if you need a few of them.</span>

<span itemprop="description">"Safety 1st", " Customer Experience Last". The user manual for the product is between the two sides of the gate, and the gate is collapsed when you purchase it. So the manufacturer decided to find out how well your problem solving skills are. As you struggle pushing and pulling trying to open the gate, the manual shakes and rattles between the 2 sides of the closed gate teasing you as if it was saying "Come on you can do it". If/When you succeed, the gate opens up and all the answers lie within the manual. You then are so frustrated, you close it all up and immediately return it. This product is garbage in so many ways, pay the extra $10-15 and get a better one.</span>

My husband installed the hardware into the wall and after that, we couldn't even get the handle to work to add pressure or release from the doorway. It didn't make any sense on how to unlock it and let it swing forward. My husband and I had tried many times and could never get it to work. We returned it right away.</span>

Maybe it would work in a perfectly even door frame, but the wooden railings and wall make this impossible to use. Terrible to even use when its not installed. Hard to open, close, lock unlock. I bought 2 for the price of one and I am on may way back to the store to return them. My super fit and strong husband could hardly open the thing. I would not recommend this to anyone, unless you were putting in a perfectly small door frame and using once in a while. You get what you pay for with this one. Maybe a backup gate for once in a while use, but if anything other than that, get something easier to use for sure! Looks nice, decent colour but overall the handle is hard to use and instructions for something that seems so simple are way to user UNfriendly.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I am using the gate to stop the dog from going up/down stairs. Currently using it without wall-mounting it so I can move it around. Works well, clasping the wall securely. Handle is a bit stiff to use. Delivery was its' fault - good box but NO inside packaging to keep it from being bounced around IN the box.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I've been using this gate since 2007 when my first child was born. We tried to pressure mount and found that it lacked safety, especially around stairs. We decided to use the hardware instead and use the swing feature and this gate has been amazing for us! I especially love the "double-lock" handle feature, which did take a day or two to get used to, but if a child happened to figure out how to pull the handle up (unlikely), there's the second locking feature to prevent the gate from opening and swinging. It's easy to clean, easy to use and I've NEVER had an issue with it. I moved recently and have bought another one of these to use in my new house. I highly recommend this product if it's going to be hardware mounted.</span>

It was wide enough to cover a standard door way or stair way. Probably would not work for a double door or grand staircase.
