LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express 75955 - Exclusive is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 81.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok for living on a shelf My son bought this set as he's a huge Harry Potter fan. The Hogwarts express is grand, he loves playing with it, its sturdy and pretty much does everything he wants it to. The station, however, falls apart if you so much as look in its direction. He now refuses to play with it as it needs rebuilt every time he goes near it. For a set costing as much as this one, that's more than disappointing. I'm sure sitting on a shelf for an adult or teenage collector, this set as a whole would be fine, however as an actual toy, it falls vastly short.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Bigger Than I Thought Looks awesome! Fun to build! - Bigger than I thought. Annoying though that there were so many stickers, especially considering the specific parts that had the picture right on the piece. Also I felt like I was breaking the wands when I was bending them out of the plastic. Overall it is a great product. I recommend it for anyone that loves Harry Potter or even just likes to have a nice looking Lego product on display.

I was able to figure it out by looking at the picture but still it was an inconvenience and it took some patience. I just wanted to comment on this so that younger builders will not be confused.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All aboard! Wow! This set is magical! LEGO did an incredible job capturing the trains detail and the station's as well! The figure selection is on point (I especially like the Dementor) and the size of the train station and train itself were bigger than I expected. Its not often that you get an $80 set with so many nice figures and awesome builds. A+

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for train enthusiasts I am actually writing this review from the viewpoint of someone who has never read the Harry Potter books or seen the movies. I bought this set because it is a nice looking train and was not disappointed when it was finished. My son helped me build it as he really enjoys trains as well. The minifigs look nice. I am not familiar with most characters, but most could fit in well with the City theme. The section of Kings Cross station is really nice. Straight tracks (purchased separately) could be laid between the platforms in order to incorporate this into a railroad setup. There are nice details including the newspaper rack, the clock, and the sign indicating the station and the tracks. The train itself is outstanding! The red and gold details are nice, and it is designed to fit on tracks. A minor manipulation of the locomotive allows it to make turns on curved track. The tender is a little short, but not too bad, and the passenger car has a nice interior with well designed seats for four minifigures and a cart. The baggage cart and snack carts are nice as well with some fun details. The side panel to access the passenger cart is appreciated. I plan on motorizing the train and figure the easiest way to do so would be to modify the tender to incorporate the battery box and the train motor. The locomotive could house the receiver to complete the setup. Also, by using the train motor, that would free up two sets of wheels and axles to be added to the passenger car in order to make it appear more realistic. This could very well be the first set I will buy a second copy in order to get another passenger car. I could use the parts from the second locomotive and tender to either enhance the first and/or use them to help build other custom trains. That would also help to build a larger train station, so a second set does make sense. The value seems really good here, as you get a fairly decent sized train, a station, and several minifigures. Even if you have no idea who Harry Potter is, if you are a train fanatic, you might want to give this a hard look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magical set - just 1 thing left to do, add power! This is a great rendition of Hogwarts Express, here is how to motorise and light it if you're interested! I'm pleased to say it is really easy, here are the Powerfunctions parts required: - Battery box (88000 batteries, or 8878+45517 for mains power) - 8884 IR Receiver - 88002 Train Motor - 8879 Controller - 8870 lights + 4 Pick A Brick parts as shown (optional) - Track! Simply remove the wheel base from the engine tender, the black plate top of it and the fireplace from the engine. The train motor becomes the base of the tender as shown. Re-add the 4 dark grey 2x1 bricks from the tender to the base to act as supports for the rest of the tender assembly. Also add the engine and passenger car couplings to the train motor. Place your battery box in the tender and the IR Receiver in the engine cab. For the power, connect your IR Receiver to your battery box. Your IR Receiver has 2 ports, add the train motor's plug to one and the optional lights to the other. You're good to go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This set is addictive and basis for great train mo I have spent almost a month building variations using the basic model as a basis of inspiration and a source of parts. Built to the instructions an attractive little locomotive and a delightful rendition of Kings Cross Platfortm 9.75. But don't stop there - well I haven't and have really enjoyed the experience. First off I made larger coaches similar to featured in Emerald Night Express and fitted extra Harry Potter minifigures from the current set of 22. Then I made an adaption of the Emerald Night using the Harry Potter sets... you get a very attractive locomotive and the only real challenge is accommodating the XL power functions motor under the narrower body. In my view the result is more attractive than Emerald Night. Then I tried fitting a L motor and building a 3 axle tender as the "Real Hogwarts Express " has only 3 axles. That in its self was fantastic fun but the motor seemed to struggle pulling 4 coaches. Next I tried an XL motor mounted very low and attempted to spread the drive wheels out more to scale. I also deleted the axle under the cab as again the "Real Hogwarts Express " didn't have one. This worked well but the overhang of the cab looked all wrong. Enter the standard power functions train motor - perfect easy to build in and plenty of power for a great play experience.. I needed to add lego drive belts (red rubber bands) to the drive wheels in all cases and the power functions motor benefits from.a train weight to keep it on the track. The resulting train is 55 bricks long with a tender and should be about 63 so further experimentation will follow . But the present version I have really looks like the original. I built a larger version of the station and made stickers so I can have platform 7 and 8 as well. I added height to the station in keeping with platform height at Kings Cross. I added an wheel chair ramp to my platform 7 and 8 plus modern vending machines and Lego Newspapers based on the kiosk in the Lego City Bus. I haven't finished yet but I just wanted to share my experience

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You'r a wizard Harry As a huge Harry potter fan this was a must have to my collection, I found the build very enjoyable and very easy, the moving parts are brilliant aswell as the finer details on the platform and train making this one of my new favourite builds. I look forward to more Harry potter builds and highly recommend this to any one who is a Harry potter fan or train enthusiasts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love harry potter train When I first found the train online, I told my 4 yrs right way. He was so excited when we finally found it in store (checked multiple times always sold out). If this train could run with battery just like blue and red train collections, it will be perfect. Besides, my 4yrs even agreed to change his Halloween costume to harry potter from his routine firemen costume.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hogwarts Express Disappointed Design Issues Well a massive Harry Potter LEGO fan here, really disappointed in the overall design & finish of this train. PROS: Station is amazing that is about all, I did like the dementor which you can see has been copied from the Pirates of the Carribean, Silent Mary set oh and the stickers were cool too. CONS: it's unpractical and several faults which ill explain in more detail. Carriage Connection: they have moved away from the easy magnet connect system that works so well on all their other LEGO train sets making it easy to pull apart and change where you put the rail carriages. Wheels: Seriously why... The Middle wheel doesn't even turn when rolling along on surfaces. due to the design, it is NOT COMPATIBLE with any of the LEGO train tracks so its pretty much a train that doesn't need trains. 4708 Hogwarts Express still be the best LEGO Harry Potter train they have designed and would recommend anyone buying that over this any day. Even if you have to buy it on eBay second hand. Hope you enjoyed my review! Sorry, it wasn't the one I wanted to write but I guess its an honest one. #LEGOwizardingworld
