However there are a few things I would change if I were designing it. The rooms in the tower all seem to be a waste of space to me. Both rooms in the tower kind of just have random magic things in them. LEGO could have made use of this space better by putting iconic rooms from Hogwarts here, which would make it more appealing to both kids and fans. The mirror of erised is also positioned a bit oddly. When you put a minifuigre in front of it, their face is litterly right up against it, which looks really weird. With my set, I moved the mirror of erised to where the other rooms are and got rid of one of the floors, so it would fit. The basalisk included looks a bit strange because it is black instead of green like it is in the movie and its shape is also a bit non-realistic. The next thing I changed with my set is the positioning of the flags, it was a bit odd that they weren't positioned over the house tables, so I moved them over so that they were. I also added the turrets coming off of the roof of the tower to make it look more like the real thing, however I don't think LEGO nessisarily needed to add this, it was just something I did to improve it. I enjoyed doing all these customizations, though and it makes mine unique. I like how you can combine all the different Hogwarts sets to make a larger Hogwarts at a cheaper price and with more features than the big one. The great hall its self looks pretty good and so does the exterior of the set. All the minifigures are pretty good, but the Dumbledore figure does not seem to be quite as good as the ones that have come out more recently. Although the price seems intimidating at first, once I spent the money and assembled the set, I realized it was worth all the money I spent. By far my favorite part about the Harry Potter Lego sets is their unique ability to attach and complete the full Hogwarts castle. I would recommended to anyone purchasing the full Hogwarts set and even the other Harry Potter Lego sets. From an adult perspective I can successfully finish the sets quite easily, but I have been an avid Lego builder for a while now, and find most of the newer Lego sets very easy. I loved this set! From the minifigures to the house banners it was great. One thing I didn't like was that I got a minifigure for Susan Bones instead of Ginny Weasley. However, they look very similar so I just pretended that Susan was Ginny. Some people have said in their reviews that the phoenix was hard to see because of the mirror of Erised, but you can easily remove the mirror. Another thing I liked was that the house banners that hung could be flipped around, meaning one side was Ravenclaw whille the other side was Slytherin, and one side was Gryffindor while the other side was Hufflepuff. The minifigures looked very nice and basilisk also looked great. I also liked how Scabbers came with the set. This was a fun build and playing was also a hoot. The fact it is split in to bags also gives you natural break points but I will admit I just built this in one gleeful sitting. The only real problem is how addictive this is and it has led me down a rabbit hole of kits that link with this one.
