Built for the 1962 World's Fair, the Seattle Space Needle embraced the 'Race into Space' era of the time. Dominating the Seattle skyline with its futuristic 'flying saucer' appearance, this 158m-tall observation tower was built to withstand winds of up to 200 mph (321 kph) and earthquakes of 9.5 magnitude, thanks to its distinctive tripod base and supporting legs. This LEGO Landmark series interpretation of the Seattle Space Needle was designed by US architect Adam Reed Tucker in collaboration with the LEGO design team.
