The balls go into the top of the truck and they shoot out a second hole right behind the first and the scoop catches it and throws it back up into the truck. My son is amazed at how it catches the ball every single time. Plus if a ball gets stuck, there's a little level on the wheel and you flip that and it shoots the ball back out! Hour of fun! Had to remind her that her hands could get stuck. Besides that, she has great fun with this collecting and popping up the balls. It's not too noisy and she can push or pull it around easily (as long as she keeps the floor clean!). It's not made to be a walker, so the push/pull aspect is probably best for supervised kids or those who are good at walking already. The buttons are a great educational feature and are not too loud. Vtech always seems to surprise me with the new products they come out with. I love how it can be played with while sitting down or walking around pushing it. My daughter recently started walking and that's all she seems to like to do so this was perfect for her. She constantly giggles as the balls shoot out and get scooped up and dropped back in its never ending fun for her. Its fun for her and keeps her attention for longer than a minute. So I had to buy it for him for his first birthday. He very much enjoys the music and balls, but hasn&rsquo;t yet mastered how to get the balls to pop because they only pop out when it&rsquo;s pushed forward not backward.He&rsquo;s still learning how to walk, but he enjoys tugging on this toy while seated. Lots of play options and buttons to push. Comes with 4 balls and no assembly required. Highly recommend this product. Put the ball in the bucket and it puts it in the top hole and pops out of the blue hole back into the bucket. It has a handle that is perfect for her height. She is able to push and pull it with ease. It came with 4 colorful balls, and batteries already in it. It only required the handle to be put on as far as assembly, and it took 4 screws, a small Philips screw driver and about 2 minutes of my time. The excavator part has 4 colorful buttons on it, it counts, sings, and makes music while being pushed around. It also shoots the balls from one hole, and scoops them into the excavator bucket, which then flings them back into the hole to be popped into the bucket!
