My nephew (age 2.5) also loved playing with it too. Honestly it took a little figuring out, with the remote - but it's great for fine motor skills and has greatly improved his dexterity. Both my son and nephew love playing with the car both on its on and in the wheel. The car even flips when it comes to certain walls, which they finds very entertaining, and loves when the car is in the wheel and it spins around! When it arrived it was easy to take out of the package and only needed six AA batteries, two for the remote control, four for the car. When using the car it was a little difficult to figure out how the controls worked. We first tried it on carpet and found it's easier to use on a hard surface such as tile or hardwood floors. It does work on carpet but the car tends to continuously flip over instead of moving in a forward or backward motion. I had my four-year-old, six year old, and 7 year old use the car to test it out. They all had difficulty figuring out how to use the controller to make the car move. After some trial and error they were able to play with the car, although I would only recommend this car for older children. The labeling recommends the car for 3+, I feel like a younger child would have more difficulty being able to use the toy the way it's intended and could become frustrated. Overall all my children enjoyed the car and each wanted multiple turns. We had not heard of it before and were eager to try it out. We went to a gymnasium and they were able to drive it all around. The controls were a little hard for them at first (you had to push two buttons simultaneously to make it go forward) and so that was not as easy as other child remote control cars that we have played with. After a while they did get the hang of it and, although they still can't control it well, they are able to get it around. The car is super durable, our son has accidentally driven it down our stairs multiple times. And the battery life seems good; if they leave it on for a while without activity it seems to 'sleep' and so I don't feel like I have to be constantly on them about wasting the batteries. We also love that if it flips over it can still drive; that is so nice with little kids trying to drive it over things. The only issue we found with the Little Tikes Tire Twister Lights is the Tire Twister. The tire lets it twist, but the car fell out easily. The car still goes around, but not as fast as in the tire. I would probably not buy this product and I would not recommend it to friends and family, only because the Tire Twister part didn't work well and the kids don't play with it. They do like the car part though, a lot. We love the brand's toys and have come to trust them. When I saw the Tire Twister Lights, I knew it was something my 2 1/2 year old son would love! He adores remote control cars, although he has trouble controlling them. This product, however, took care of that problem. The police car is a tumbler- it can flip and be driven on either side. It fits nicely inside the tire and can easily be removed and replaced. My son was able to do so with ease. The police car itself requires 4 batteries, and flashes with blue and red lights even makes a siren sound. The car, inside the tire, can drive forward, backwards, and twist in circles (my son's favorite). Driven alone, the car can be driven pretty much like any remote control vehicle. My son could only get the twisting down, but that was enough to keep him entertained and excited. It doesn't require a huge space, which was another plus to us. Once again, Little Tikes has met our expectations for quality and fun. I would definitely buy this product and recommend it. The only con is that the tire toppled over nearly every time during the twisting action. The remote control has two directional buttons. One of the directional buttons is on the left, and the other on the right. The buttons on the left control the tires on the left side of the car, and the buttons on the right control the tires on the right side. You can choose to either go forward or backward with either set of buttons. To get the car to go straight ahead one has to hold both the forward buttons down. To get the car to reverse, one has to hold both the backward buttons down. The remote does seem to have a long range. We opened the package today and immediately my kids began to play with it. My 4yo loves it and would not stop playing with the car and remote for almost an hour. He has a little bit of a hard time getting it to go where he wants it to, and he typically plays with only the car and not the car inside the &quot;tire&quot;. He can't maneuver the car well inside the &quot;tire&quot;. My 7yo also loves it. She does a little more maneuvering inside the &quot;tire&quot;, and can get the car to go most anywhere she wants. I tried the car, and after a short time of working with the remote I had a relatively easy time getting the car zipping around. The controls are not super intuitive, and as a result, when I tried the car inside the &quot;tire&quot; I had a harder time. The &quot;tire&quot; has a hard time changing directions from front to back or spinning one direction to the opposite. I still have not mastered the handling in the &quot;tire&quot; after about 30 minutes of play. My 4 year old got the hang of driving it pretty quickly and he doesn't have a lot of experience with remote control cars or video games. The tire part is cool &amp; fun but they don't use it in the tire that often, mostly love driving the police car around. My older son loves that it's a police car and uses it with his other toys to pretend he arresting his bad guy action figures. The lights and sounds are good - it's not too loud where it gets super annoying after hours of play. Also the batteries have lasted quite awhile considering how much the kids play with it. It takes 2 AA batteries in remote and 4 in car - easy to take out of box and put in batteries. I hate trying to battle a box while kids anxiously await their toy. I like that the car will flip over / keep going when it runs into a something so I don't have to help the kids with steering, etc. We travel a lot, so it's a toy they like that we can easily take with us (w/o tire). The volume of the police car siren, which only plays when it's actually moving, is audible but not annoyingly loud. The controller feels sturdy as do the car and wheel. The gimmick of the large wheel, however, doesn't seem to work all the time. The way it works is the RC car has rubber grip wheels that catch the large tire to move. Sometimes, for whatever reason, the wheels don't grip the big wheel and nothing happens. The controller also uses standard tank controls, meaning both sides of the controller have up/down controls. They essentially control each side of the wheels. So if you want to go right, you either push up on the left with down on the right (for a faster turn) or just up on the left or just down on the right. To move forwards you have to press up on both sides.
