The game is set up in less than 5 minutes and each round took about 20-30 minutes to play. My children are 3 &amp; 4 years old. They enjoyed the game for the most part, but some aspects seemed too complex for them. The &quot;Chance&quot; cards and the &quot;Go to Jail&quot; concept were just too difficult for them to comprehend and caused a lot of confusion &amp; frustration. Once I realized that they weren't going to 'get it,' my solution was to just not use the Chance cards or acknowledge the &quot;Go to Jail&quot; space. After doing that, we were golden! They loved buying the different properties (the Ice Cream Shop is the most popular!) and getting paid! The bills are all $1, so it's simple enough for them to count out what is due while reinforcing their counting abilities. They are too young to play by themselves, so adult guidance is needed (but that's where the 20-30 minute game-play is perfect!). I was pleasantly surprised by Monopoly Junior! I've never been the biggest fan of Monopoly due to the length and complex nature of the game. Money is only in $1 bills. Spaces range from $1-$5. Even a child too young to add can handle the money. The pieces are cute, and the simple &quot;ownership&quot; pieces are easy to recognize and manipulate. The directions are simple, and even though others have complained there is no&quot;end&quot; to the game, it ends when only one player has money or your kids have had enough. Monopoly Junior is similar to traditional Monopoly, but geared towards younger children. The game still uses the gameboard, tokens, and properties, but in an easier kid-friendly version. The gameboard has properties that are relatable to kids such as the zoo and the toy store. Monopoly Junior uses only $1 bills which is helpful for the younger kids. It is for ages 5 and up, but my 3 1/2 year old loves this game. She is able to count her money and move her token by herself. Of course she needs help with the reading portions of the game, but she is so excited that she can play with her older siblings. My kids have played this game over and over and it has provided us with hours of family fun and entertainment. I definitely recommend this game for family game night and it would make a great gift too. The oldest child always seems to have a huge advantage over the others. The Monopoly Jr game is updated from the adult version in an intelligent way so that all of my children were able to engage and enjoy themselves while still getting to experience what it is like to play a game of Monopoly. I noticed several good design features: 1. The game pieces are larger than in the adult version, which makes grasping and manipulating much easier for small hands. 2. Each side of the board has fewer spaces so that children feel they are progressing around the board quickly. 3. The chance cards are a fun silly feature that inserts a random element into the game which helps to level the playing field between younger and older players in a fun way. 4. Property names are fun things such as &quot;ice cream shop&quot;. Only Park Place and Boardwalk have not been renamed. This actually bothered my husband who felt that the valuable properties could have been an amusement park and a water slide, but I wasn't bothered by it. 5. All Monopoly Jr money is in units of 1, so it is much easier for younger players to handle their own money. When someone runs out of money the game is done. Whoever has the most money wins. The only feature that was not adapted from the adult version was the standard 6-sided die. I would have loved to see a larger die in order to make it easier to manipulate. We had several instances of &quot;find the die under the table&quot; after an overly enthusiastic roll. Another solution to this problem would be to enclose the die in a plastic bubble, similar to the one used in the latest Trouble game. That way a tap on the top would &quot;roll&quot; the die without it becoming lost. In reality this quibble with the game design is a small thing. Right out of the box on our first game, we spent about 15 minutes assembling the pieces and reading the rules. After that each game lasted approximately 15-20 minutes and all three of my children were engaged and happy throughout that time. I love the bright colors of the game and it is very eye catching but my family and I found this game rather boring. My boys ages 6 and 8 lost interest quickly as it seems the game is not challenging enough. Assembly was aggravating as well. The board was stuck together when it arrived in a way that when we tried to pull it apart, it completely separated and broke in half at the seams. The play money was difficult to separate and divide out as well. This is a completely personal preference, but wish they had a better selection of tokens.
