Recreate the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum® with LEGO® Architecture!

Explore iconic architecture with this LEGO® Architecture interpretation of Frank Lloyd Wrights Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum®, featuring the famous inverted-ziggurat rotunda and annex tower.

Construct a LEGO® brick model of one of the most significant architectural icons of the 20th century. Located in New York City, the internationally renowned Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum® is hailed as one of Frank Lloyd Wrights greatest achievements. The building was commissioned in 1943, and on October 21, 1959, Wrights masterpiece was opened to the public, gaining immediate recognition as an architectural landmark. This detailed LEGO model focuses on the buildings smoothed concrete facade with its distinctive curves and lines, and features its famous inverted-ziggurat rotunda and eight-story annex tower. The Guggenheims iconic sign, recreated in a similar typeface, and a section of New York Citys 5th Avenue Museum Mile with its signature yellow cabs complete the model, capturing the essence of this magnificent structure.

This accurately detailed LEGO® model faithfully recreates the curves and distinctive lines that have made this building an architectural icon for the last half-century. The simple, grid-patterned facade of the annex tower complements the main building with its circular rotundas, while buildable exterior elements depict a section of New York Citys 5th Avenue Museum Mile, complete with its signature yellow cabs. The Guggenheim sign, featuring Wrights architectural lettering, has also been recreated in a similar typeface to heighten the authenticity of the model. This LEGO Architecture model has been designed to deliver a rewarding building experience for all with an interest in architecture, travel, history and design, and is suitable for display in the home and office.

LEGO Architecture Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum® 21035 is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bravo, Lego! This is one of my favorite Architecture sets to date. It looks beautiful on display, and I can tell the designers put many hours into perfecting the shape. One of my favorite parts of this model is how they included printed tiles on the front instead of the usual name plate to make it more true to life. My only complaint is that the large spiral section is slanting outward too much, but I really don't see how else they could've done it. Also, there are many 1x1 tiles in this set which are pretty tricky to line up, but once you do get them lined up, the hard work definitely pays off. Overall, outstanding model!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just wow! I received this a few days ago and finally had the chance to sit down and build it last night. All I can say is wow! This set put the first Guggenheim to shame. The level of details is just amazing. Definitely one of my favorite build and hope Lego designers continues to improve the Architecture Series. This one will definitely be on display for everyone to see. I can't wait for the next set they come up with or redesign.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Museum Worthy I was excited when I saw that The Guggenheim Museum was being released with a new LEGO Architecture set. I am a big Frank Lloyd Wright fan, and to say I was disappointed in the previous version of the Guggenheim, would be an understatement. It always seemed oddly proportioned. I realize that the designers are limited by brick shapes, and budget constraints, especially with a round building, but that set was a let down. The new set is amazing. Every element of the design is light years beyond the previous one. The build is challenging, and it is fun to see the details as they emerge. Little quirks in the build, reveal themselves to be design elements that are almost hidden, unless you look closely. There are also the witty design elements that fit for the Guggenheim. The yellow taxi's and the white grills which represent cross walks, all fit into the New York theme. When done, the design is cohesive and proportional. Though it is impossible to achieve the spiral ramp element of FLLW's architecture, the gradual step out of the curved floors suggests it in a modern way. This set is definitely in my top five fave within the Architecture series. It gets pride of place on my LEGO shelf. I call this set Museum Worthy, because it is a set worthy of the Museum it represents.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A hefty little eye candy This is my third Architecture set. I own the Farnsworth House and the Trevi Fountain, of which the first one is still intact - I just love the sleek beauty of it. The Guggenheim has the same esthetic appeal: clean lines, a trillion 1x1 tiles, and beautiful colors. Yes, colors. I love the dark green plates with white tiles and sand details in the Farnsworth House, and I also love the two different greens of the Guggenheim combined with the teeny tiny splashes of yellow. It looks complete, balanced, satisfying. It also has a nice weight to it. And even though one will not see the insides of the model once it is ready, the inside design makes sense when you are building the model. You can see the love for the original architecture manifesting in the LEGO model and even its details that don't meet the eye. Also, the back wall, although it seems pretty uniform a structure, is in fact a really complex and intriguing construction. The overall built of the model is quite challenging, especially the back wall, to get all the tiles spot-on straight. But that's good, right? Not everything has to be easy, not in life nor in LEGO. And that's why I really like both the Architecture and the Creator series. :) Happy building!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fifth Avenue, First Class! This is a superb Lego set. Building it was a bit of a challenge as there are so many small parts and unless totally concentrating, easy to make a mistake. The final result is very satisfying, a beautiful building. If I were to make any improvements, one would be the roof which in the model is a solid colour whereas the actual building has a transparent one. I imagine Lego opted for the solid colour to hide the interior. On the plus side, the museum name is on printed elements. It would have been a disappointment had they been on stickers. On mine the lettering is not parallel but that's a minor quibble. It is a bit too expensive but that seems to be the way for the Architecture series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big improvement I just got this set as a gift and was happy to unwrap it as the box photo looked great, a big improvement over the earlier kit. For my whole adult life I have been a fan of Frank Lloyd Wrigt and, much later in life, Lego. So much of the subtlety of FLW's designs seem difficult to interpret in Lego, but this kit does a very good job. It's fairly small in size but the way it captures the essence of the design is well thought out. The colours work well and the curves are achieved in a surprising way. The transitions between the arcs I thought at first were clunky but after building, they are less so, although they maybe could have benefited from white bricks behind where there are tiny fitting gaps to make the curves appear more seamless (instead of black bricks). To me there were a few odd instances of brick "engineering" that didn't seem very solid but they don't affect the overall build. One thing I don't like is the assembly of smaller base plates into a larger one. No matter what it will not sit perfectly flat--why can't Lego make one-piece bases for kits this size so that the corners don't curve upward slightly? Overall a very nice adult kit. I hope Lego can successfully translate more of FLW's buildings into kits like this one. If they do, I will most certainly buy them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Update to Original I don't own the original but I do own sets of this line both new and old and can see how the sets are evolving in detail. This finished product looks great and looks vastly superior to the original build. One thing I did that sticks out for my experience is once you are done take a minute to move the set around and look at it from all angles. I really like the level of detail they took with everything. I wish the set were maybe 10 dollars cheaper as it only took me 3 hours to build.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slightly Disappointed That is a very neat set. Lots of different build techniques, and rare pieces. However, as a avid Architecture theme fan, I am slightly disappointed in the quality of this set. First off the booklet was not the typical cardstock bound booklet, it was thinner paper type. Second the build instructions even seemed different (A little more vague on certain steps) as well as print quality was lower, some places were slanted and cut off. Lastly, and most concerning, was the print of the building name on the pieces itself. The building name is actually up on the building were it is on the real building, as opposed to the typical location on the border piece on the base of the set. I like were the name is placed on this set, my problem is the portion of the name "Museum" is slanted, and part of the "M" is cut off. This is not the Lego quality I have grown to love and expect. I was halfway through the build when I noticed this, and do not plan to return, but I want to point out, that their quality control needs to be put in check, I would be highly disappointed to see more of this going forward. Lastly, and also quite aggravating, is the set was missing two pieces. I know this occasionally happens and I commend Lego for adding extra pieces in effort to prevent this as much as possible. Its rare I have a set with a missing piece, and I think this is the first time I have had 2 pieces missing, but I think this is just another example of lack of quality control on this set. Honestly, I almost thought this was a set that was intended to be sold in a different country. Anyways, all the issues a aside, this was a neat set, beautiful model, and I love the change in color theme. I think the Black,Charcoal, white, white hints of yellow make for a nice scheme. I do hope that any quality control is put into check however. If anyone from Lego reads this and wants further information on my actual set to identify manufacturing locations, please contact me I want to be as helpful as possible.
