When the crest on the dolls chest is pressed the dolls face lights up with a soft glow and a number of calming lullabies are softly played. It comes with batteries already installed. There is a switch on the back of the doll underneath the velcro with 3 settings; (1) soft glow only without music, (2) shortened lullaby playtime and (3) extended play of lullabies. Works wonderfully to help ease her to sleep on the nights she's feeling a little fussy. Online purchase was easy and quick to receive. Nothing beats the old one. This one has small button to push for the operation of it. Baby can't turn on on their own where the old one had a bar and would turn on easily with a hug or push. My granddaughter loves it and my grandson loves his blue glow worm. The music in the older pink glow worm has a more pleasant sound than the newer &ldquo;electronic&rdquo; sound of the blue glow worm. That&rsquo;s why I only gave the blue one 4 stars. I would give the pink one 5 stars.
